University of South Florida (USF) received $425,000 for the first 2 years of a 5 year study potentially worth up to $1.7 M over 5 years to work on a drug to combat Naegleria fowleri. They are looking to develop a fast acting drug based upon promising results of an earlier study conducted at USF that identified two new compounds that are 500 times more potent than drugs used today to combat PAM.
